📍 Location: Yongnian District, Handan City, Hebei Province
🏛 Historical Background: The Grandmother Temple, originally known as the "Cihui Temple," was constructed during the Ming Dynasty and is one of the oldest folk belief buildings still existing within the Guangfu Ancient City. The temple venerates the "Grandmother," a revered figure combining the worship of the "Mazu" (the Goddess of the Sea) and local protective deities, reflecting the northern water town's respect for female deities. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Guangfu was located on the main waterway of the Fuyang River, attracting merchants and travelers. The people prayed for favorable winds and rain and peace in their homes, leading to the construction of the temple.
🏗 Architectural Features: The temple faces south and covers an area of approximately 300 square meters. It is constructed using traditional brick and wood structures with a single-eaved, gable and upturned corner roof, covered with green tiles. The main hall measures three bays in width, with veranda columns and carved stone bases. The beam and lintel paintings still retain the style of the Qing Dynasty. The temple gate is flanked by inscriptions from the Qing Dynasty's Guangxu period, recording multiple renovation processes, which hold significant historical and documentary value.
