The Qinhe Park Monument is located in the heart of Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, commemorating the heroic battle fought by the Jinji Lu-Yu Field Army in the Qinhe Campaign in 1947, which led to the liberation of Jiaozuo. Originally erected in 1952 as the "Qinhe Liberation Monument," it was one of the first municipal cultural heritage sites designated in Jiaozuo. In 1986, after restoration, it was officially renamed the "Qinhe Park Monument," preserving the red memory of the Taihang Revolutionary Base Area.
The monument is constructed from granite, standing approximately 7.2 meters tall with a square columnar form. The four sides of its base feature relief carvings depicting the themes: "River Crossing Assault," "Civilian Support for the Front," "Victorious Convergence," and "Heroes Forever Remembered." The front face of the pillar bears the seven gilded characters "Qinhe Liberation Monument," inscribed by Yang Xiu-feng, former chairman of the Jinji Lu-Yu Border Region Government. The inscription details the strategic significance of the People's Liberation Army’s bold crossing of the Qinhe River in March 1947, breaking through Nationalist defenses, and highlights the indomitable spirit and heroic sacrifice of the people's army.
As an important site for red education in Jiaozuo, the monument bears witness to a pivotal moment in the Central Plains liberation campaign and serves as a crucial physical record for studying the history of the Liberation War and local revolutionary movements. Its architectural style blends classical solemnity with modern minimalism, reflecting the characteristics of commemorative architecture in the early years of New China, and holds significant historical, artistic, and scientific value.
⭐ Reminder: Please maintain solemnity; avoid loud talking or climbing near the monument. Civilized viewing signs are posted around the site, encouraging public respect for history and remembrance of heroes.
